NYC Employers: Make Room for Another Poster

NYC Employers: Make Room for Another Poster

The New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection has published a Workers’ Bill of Rights, which the Department describes as “a comprehensive guide to rights in the workplace in New York City.”

By July 1, 2024, Employers must:

  1. post the Department’s “Know Your Rights at Work” Poster at each workplace in New York City;
  2. distribute a copy of the poster to each employee; and
  3. make the poster available on any online platform used to communicate with their employees, such as a company intranet or app.

Employers must provide a copy of the poster to all employees hired after July 1, 2024 on the employee’s first day of work.

The poster does not contain information about employees’ rights itself but includes a QR code that links to the Department’s website with a Workers’ Bill of Rights.

The Bill of Rights discusses laws enforced by the City, such as Paid Safe and Sick Leave, Temporary Schedule Changes, and Freelance Workers Rights, and also includes state and federal laws, such as Wage and Hour laws, Paid Family Leave, and the Family and Medical Leave Act.  The Bill of Rights is available in multiple languages.
